I can't believe Kemble is already 9 months old! Everyone told us how quickly time would fly by, but I really had no idea! I feel like she's really grown and changed a lot in the past month. I'm loving every minute of it! It just keeps getting better and better!!
Here are her pictures with Ellie:
(it's getting harder to get you to sit and smile for these, you're a busybody!)
At 9 months:
-You weighed 17 pounds, 8 oz and were 27-3/4 inches long. You are in the 30th percentile for your weight, and the 55th for your length!
-Your head circumference went from the 35th percentile to the 65th since your 6-month visit!
-Dr Adams said you could stop taking the Prevacid for your reflux and you haven't had any problems with it since we stopped giving it to you Friday!
-She told us to start giving you Milk of Magnesia once a day to help soften your stools.
-You have your 2 bottom teeth, it looks like another bottom one is coming in, and there's no sign of any top teeth coming yet - but it's hard to tell since you won't let me look or feel your mouth anymore!
-You have grown very independent. You have really learned how to get exactly what you want, or at least how to try! You don't like for us to do things for you or play with your toys very much, but you still constantly want us nearby.
-You're very aware of where we are at all times. You've learned our house and look from one doorway to the other to see which way we might be coming into the room. You can hear EVERYTHING and can hear someone coming from a mile away!
-You've become pretty clingy to me lately. Often you really just don't want anything but for me to hold you, and that's usually fine with me :) You can get angry when I turn my back to you or leave the room.
-You've also started reaching for us when you want to be picked up.
-You are learning to pull up to stand all by yourself. You've done it a few times on your music table (and lots of times with just a tiny bit of help) and you did it effortlessly in your crib today while Daddy watched in amazement.
-Therefore, we lowered the mattress in your crib down 2 notches. It doesn't even look like a crib anymore! :(
-You love to dance to music by bouncing, shaking your little booty, twisting your foot or nodding your head.
-You're finally getting the hang of bouncing in your Johnny Jump Up and you love it.
-You have pretty much outgrown your exersaucer. You can make it lean so far over that I'm afraid you'll tip it over, so I really don't ever put you in it anymore. It makes me kinda sad because you loved it so much!
-You're able to scoot and drag yourself all over, and you're army crawling backwards pretty well. We're in trouble when you start that forward movement! You really just haven't figured out how to keep your tummy off the ground and stay up on those knees.
-You love being on your tummy these days, you will play that way and often turn to your tummy to sleep, and you seem to sleep really deeply that way.
-You had been sleeping so much better lately, long naps, no waking during the night, but the past couple of days you've been a little more unpredictable and really unhappy when we put you in your crib. I hope it passes quickly and you get back to enjoying your crib and sleep time.
-When getting comfy in bed, you almost always head straight to the very top where you roll over and wedge yourself up into the corner and lay horizontally across the bed, with stuffed animals tucked all around you.
-Sometimes you get under the bumpers to sleep, and you know you're not supposed to because when I see it on the monitor and come to move you, you scurry back to the middle when you hear me coming.
-You're eating a little more, and taking less formula. We've been trying finger foods, and you can grab them and get them to your mouth just fine, but so far only Puffs have been a success in the taste department. You were hesitant at first, but now you just love them and get as many in your mouth as you can. Green beans, not so much. I tried a Biter Biscuit and you bit half of it off in your mouth after a few seconds, so I haven't tried those again!
-You don't like chunks in your foods. I made several big batches of homemade baby food since the storebought stuff is too runny for you, but you gag and make faces at the texture. Hopefully you just need to get used to it, so I'll keep trying!
-You love, love, love juice. Or even water. Basically you love your sippy cups unless it has formula in it! You hold it and drink it all by yourself, and you've also recently begun to hold your bottles all by yourself. You even know how to tip it up when it gets low - I think you've known how to do it for a while but have just been holding out on us! :)
-My favorite new trick of yours: eskimo kisses. I've always given them to you, but now you turn your nose to mine to do them and you just laugh and laugh. I love it!!!
-We call you Miss Mess, because you are such a mess! You can be so sneaky and we love it!
-Your hair is getting so much thicker and longer! You can wear bows without a headband pretty well, and you pull them out sometimes but you're actually pretty good about leaving them in.
-You're wearing clothes anywhere from 9 to 18 months and size 3 diapers, although 4's fit fine too.
-You say dadadadada all day long. If I say "mama" to you, you say "dada" back. You will do lots of other talking, but that's the only repetitive thing you're saying now. I wish you'd say BlaBlaBla again - that was my favorite!
-Another new trick: shaking your head back and forth. You do it to say no, like if I'm offering you more food or drink, you will shake your head no. Smarty pants. You also do it to dance or just be cute, but that's a little different, you do it faster and cock one eyebrow up.
-Your favorite activities these days are: playing peek-a-boo all by yourself, playing pat-a-cake although you haven't quite mastered clapping your hands by yourself, banging toys together, shaking toys and rattles, Daddy chasing us around the house, reading books and turning the pages by yourself...you especially love touch & feel books, dancing and playing with your Leapfrog music table, me singing to you - you like it no matter what it is, swimming and splashing in the water of the pool or bathtub, using bowls or cups as megaphones, chewing on your shoes or our jewelry - or really anything you can get your hands on, watching cartoons and laughing out loud at them, snuggling with ALL of your stuffed animals - you're not picky, you like them all, helping me "type" on the computer.
-Some things you are working on but haven't quite mastered: clapping your hands, waving hi/bye (it's hit or miss!), eating finger foods, crawling, pulling to stand, saying MaMa.
-Some things you really just aren't a fan of: having your hair washed, having your face washed, getting your diaper changed (all of a sudden, you throw a fit every time), me trying to feel inside your mouth or clean your teeth, the paci - you still want it to sleep occasionally but often you don't even want it these days, sitting still to snuggle - you'd rather be exploring, although every now and then we catch a moment with ya!
-I love you so much and am having so much fun with you every day! I can't wait to take you to Galveston next week!!!
