Graduation of Sorts

We have had the best, most relaxing, fun summer day today! First, we woke up and hung out in bed and watched cartoons for a while.

After Kemble's breakfast, Mommy and Daddy treated ourselves to a donut run. It was Kemble's first time at the donut shop and I sure wished she could have one! Then we drove around looking at yard sales, but didn't see anything good at all. After that we got home and Kemble was ready for a nap so daddy and I went to the attic to get some stuff down and put some stuff up...

Kemble has officially had another graduation. This time, it was from her infant car seat to her big girl convertible car seat! I've hated her car seat from the very first time I put her in it and realized how tricky it is to get and hold the puzzle-piece latch together before inserting it into the buckle, while you've got a squirmy baby who is spitting up because of the pressure you're puttting on her little tummy while doing all this! Plus, I totally underestimated my own strength. She has been entirely too heavy for me to carry in it for months now. The only time I use it as a carrier is on the rare occasion that she's asleep and we go in somewhere, or we are grocery shopping during naptime and I keep her in that in the shopping cart so she can sleep. Otherwise, she sits in the cart or her stroller.

Anyway, due to those reasons, and the fact that she's outgrowing her infant seat (her feet hang off the end) and it seems sooo hot too, we decided to get the convertible seat we'd originally planned for Stephen's car out (it wouldn't fit rear-facing in his car) and swapped them out. He now has a car seat for the first time since her arrival, however in the process of all this I realized her infant seat's weight max is 22 pounds, which she's quickly approaching! Luckily, in a few months she will be able to face forward and can use all her big girl car seats in both cars anyway!

While adjusting the straps, we brought her into the garage to try them on, and she looked and felt like such a big girl in her car seat! It made me a little sad, but mostly excited, because I am just loving this fun age she is at right now.

We also got out of the attic a ton of clothes that Stephen's friend Lance gave us and I went through those and found a lot that will fit her now, especially a huge stack of pajamas which Kemble helped me wash and fold.

They also gave us lots of toys that she plays with often, but we'd stored the Leap Frog Music Table away until now, so we got that out and she absolutely loved it! I'm hoping it will help her learn to pull up to her feet (and stay up)!

Then we all got comfy in pajamas and hung out until bedtime. Here's a picture of Kemble in her "new" pajamas with her new frog and her new teeth! Can you see them?! (Click on the picture to zoom in and you can)

Here's to another fun day tomorrow!
