Well in the past week or so, Kemble has grown up so much it seems!! All of a sudden, she's started doing some crazy talking! I'd been getting a little worried, because while Kemble's been babbling and talking for quite a while, a lot of her sounds did not include consonants, and we constantly tried to coax not only MaMa and DaDa out of her, but also BaBa, GaGa, etc. She just would look up at us and smile! I knew she should be at the stage where she was repeating consonant babbles, but I just wasn't seeing much of it. Sure, we got the occasional "AhGoo" or "Naaaa" but no repetitive action.
So, we were pretty surprised when on Memorial Day she began saying "Bla Bla Bla Bla Bla Bla" over and over and over again! Not only one consonant, but two together!! Pretty tough stuff! Anyway, it became her new favorite trick (unless, of course, we were trying to prompt her to say it, then she looked at us like she had no clue what we're talking about - has to be her idea!), and she would say it over and over until she was out of breath and her eyes started to water with huge wet tears and they were red like she'd been crying. (I have video of it, just need to get it in the format that I can upload, so I'll try to do that soon!) Now she says "DaDaDaDaDa" a lot more than anything else, I think she momentarily forgot "Bla", but I'm sure it will be back! We get some Ma's, Ga's, La's and Gla's too. It's like once she gets something completely, she just takes off with it! I'm so glad for this recent development, not only because I feel it is age appropriate for her, but also because we get the biggest kick out of hearing it. The other night we were laughing so hard we were crying because she was just going on and on and on, she was really trying to tell us something. It just makes me so happy to hear her talking, and makes me realize how soon she will actually be making sense!
On Monday she also got her first tooth!! Of course, it's just a tiny little sharp nub, but it's definitely finally coming in. The right one came in first, and now the left one is making it's way through too (I think, she really won't let me look or feel at all anymore). She's been acting like she's teething since she was 3 months old, so I'm excited for her to finally be getting those precious teeth. And I have to brag... I just really have the best daughter in the world! I've always heard teething is so hard on them and us too, and of course, I'm knocking hard on wood because I know I'm totally jinxing us all by even saying this, but she's handling it SO well! No fever, no fussiness, no lack of sleep, no more gnawing on everything in sight than usual, only a couple of episodes of not eating normally - but today she's been eating even more than usual. In fact, she has been sleeping longer periods and more peacefully than she has in months. I'm so glad it doesn't seem to be hurting her too bad, and hoping that it continues to go smoothly for her.
Momma and I started our last part of our cake classes last night - we're finally working on fondant, so we're excited to learn the tricks of the trade. She spent the night with us, which is always very fun! This morning at breakfast Kemble ate bananas out of those little mesh food feeder things, and she absolutely LOVED it!! I can't wait to start trying more table food with her, of course I'm worried about her choking, and she really doesn't like some of the chunkier textures, but I know she has to practice in order to learn. She's getting better with the Puffs, she sometimes just likes to suck the flavor off then spit it out, but today she ate a few handfuls of them and only spit out a few. It cracks me up to watch her eat them, she tries to cram them all in her mouth, but then they stick to her little fingers and she gets frustrated until she finally gets it in there!
Anyway, our sweet baby girl is really growing up! I am just amazed every day at how much smarter, bigger, sweeter and prettier she gets. I love her so much!
p.s. I still have a big Memorial Day weekend post to do with all her first swimming pictures!
p.p.s. I decided it was time for a fun new blog design for summer, so check it out!
