It seems like Kemble is growing up so fast! Each day she does something new (and often funny!). She keeps me on my toes for sure, which is why I haven't had time to do her 16-month post until now, so I will combine them. (I have finally gotten wise and keep a list handy to jot down these things as I think of them!)
First of all, here is a video of her catching and throwing a ball - one of her very favorite hobbies.
Her other favorite toys and activities these days:
-her shape sorter, sometimes she gets them all right, sometimes it takes her a while and she gives up, but she enjoys putting them in and out, and in and out, and....well you know!
-playing peek-a-boo, and she loves to use her own hands to hide her face now
-reading books, as always. She loves to climb into your lap and read book after book.. or more accurately, the same book over and over. Her faves are: Pinkalicious and the Pink Drink, Purplicious, Olivia, any book with fish, Superhero Me, Pat the Bunny (which she has destroyed... twice), but really she will read any book, and she will make it pretty clear if you've picked up one she is not interested in by shaking her head no.
-Stacking blocks -- she still likes to tear them down more than build them up, but she's learning!
-Crawling through her tunnel
-Riding her zebras - she has a rocking zebra and a jumping zebra, and she loves them both and can do them both independently, although she still needs help getting on and off the rocking one because it's a little tall.
-Swinging - she would swing for hours.
-Sliding - she is still kind of afraid of it. She'll sit at the top of her little backyard slide for a while before she slides down, and it's not always willingly. But she grins once she's down and usually climbs right back up again.
-Wearing my jewelry. She loves to go through and put on my bracelets and necklaces.

-Saying her animal sounds. She knows pretty much all of them these days and is really proud of herself!
-Singing songs, especially Itsy Bitsy Spider, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and the Wheels on the Bus....after I finish, she will clap then sign "more". Sometimes she tries to help me do the motions with the songs.
-Venturing off into random parts of the house - her favorites include our closet, the laundry room, and the office. We lose her fairly frequently it seems, and when we call for her, she hides. She also enjoys closing the door behind her. Luckily, she is not quite tall enough to work the doorknobs yet, although she's getting super close.
-watching me put on my makeup, and lately she has been throwing a fit because she wants some too.

She loves to watch her movies and cartoons and I have to really make an effort to not let her watch too much. She's been into Sesame Street and Barney big time lately, also Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Fresh Beat Band.
She has recently discovered a love for coloring. We've tried a few times over the past couple of months, but at first she had more interest in seeing how the crayons tasted than how to use them. Yesterday she colored her first picture by herself, and she had so much fun! I am going to love coloring pictures with her!!!!!
She is a good little eater most of the time, and most of her favorites are the same, especially fruit, mexican food, and cheese. She also really loves to share ice cream, which is rare, but last time she shared with Stephen, I'm pretty sure she got more than he did. She recently had her first popsicle (which she absolutely looooved), and also her first peanut butter and jelly sandwich (no allergy!). Most of all she wants to eat whatever we are eating, and she doesn't like it if it looks different, even if it's the same thing. She has had a huge interest lately in trying to use a fork and spoon, and is somewhat good at it already!

She loves to use sign language - she frequently uses: more, help, please, ball, car, swing, baby, eat, and all done. You never know from one day to the next if she's going to be full of things to say or pretty quiet. It's very clear that she understands pretty much every thing we say to her, but she is still only using a handful of words. I'm just waiting on the day that she wakes up and they all come pouring out of her mouth! A lot of things she tries to say now still all start with a "d" sound, but she's trying to work on other sounds.
Lately she screams to get what she wants. I mentioned this before, but she does a LOT of screaming. Some of it is happy, excited squealing, and often it is frustrated, angry screaming. I am anxiously awaiting her learning to talk so hopefully she can just tell me what she wants rather than just screaming and throwing a fit. She will even throw anything she can get her hands on when she's mad, as if the yelling didn't prove her point well enough! She has also hit, scratched, and pinched us a few times, which of course she gets in trouble for. We've had a few pretty major meltdowns lately, and those are so hard on all of us! Fortunately, it seems to be getting better already. I tried time-out with her one day, and she sat there for a full minute. I think she really knew exactly what was going on, and I figured a minute was pretty much an eternity to a one-year old, and afterwards, she was good to go and happy again!
She loves to walk backwards and in circles until she is dizzy. She is just starting to run and it's so cute. She also sometimes walks on her tip-toes or stands on her tip-toes.
She is teething big time!!! She has 2 new molars, one on the top on each side. You can see white through her gums where her canines are making their way down, and I'm sure more molars will pop through any day. She likes to chew on anything she can, but her fingers seem to be her preferred option. :) She loves, loves, loves to brush her teeth! She looks forward to it every night, and for a while we had to hide her toothbrush because if she saw it she went crazy for it, and would chew on it for hours. (I let her one day... taking it away was NOT fun). Now she knows when it's over it's over.

A few times lately she has woken up during the night screaming a horrible, terrified scream. As soon as I get in there she is fine and just wants lots of kisses and snuggles. I think she must be having bad dreams, or a little separation issue, not sure... but I don't think it's pain because it's all better as soon as I'm there, unlike when she's hurt.
She has also gotten so snuggly these days! Hooray! She loves to snuggle with us, mostly at bedtime. She loves her whole bedtime routine, and lately going to bed has been so much more pleasant for everyone! She has recently started taking baths in her big girl bathtub (she has been taking them in a small inflatable duck tub because our tub is too big to keep tabs on her, and hers has had a broken drain), but now that it's fixed, she loves it and wants every last toy in there every time.

She loves to play outside and often asks to go outside. She loves to get her sunscreen on, and wear her hat and sunglasses. Such a little girly girl!
She seems to be growing a little bit, she weighs about 21-22 lbs on our scale. She's wearing a size 4 shoe, size 18 months clothes mostly, and size 4 diapers. Her hair is getting super long and I think it may be time for a haircut before too long!!!
