Kemble at 10 Months

**my apologies to kemble and everyone else! i wrote this last week and just forgot to publish it!**

I'm pretty sure I say this every month.... but I can't believe that Kemble has already turned 10 months old!! We sure are getting close to one year, which is just unbelievable!

Here are her Ellie pictures (which, as you can probably tell by the quality of them, were even more difficult to do this time, with Kemble trying to jump out of the chair and all!)

Kemble, at ten months you are more fun and active than ever! You are the most curious little thing, always finding some teeny tiny thing to pick at, or trying to figure out how something works. You are a little mover, you have learned to crawl and you get more proficient each day. You usually pull up on anything you can. Today you even stood by yourself and took one step before grabbing for me! Daddy and I just stared at each other wide-eyed in surprise! You haven't yet figured out your new push walker toy, but you love to stand there and play, and I'm sure it won't be long before you're cruising around the house! Last night I put you in your big stuffed moose chair and you kept climbing up and down from it, you just loved it and felt like a big girl in it!

-You weighed 18 lbs, 10 oz (with your clothes on) when we visited the doctor the other day (for allergies maybe - or possibly just snotty from teething, but you were rubbing your ears so I took you in).
-You're wearing mostly 9 or 12 month clothes now, and a few 18 month things. I hope you aren't going to outgrow your fall clothes before the weather permits wearing them! Your feet have grown and now you can wear size 1 or 2 shoes!!
-You talk a lot!! You make all sorts of sounds and use them frequently. I know you're trying to tell us something all the time!
-There are words that I swear you say, but I can't tell for sure, and sometimes you won't say them, so I don't know, but you say "boopf" for book pretty frequently. Sometimes it sounds like you're saying other things like: this ("disth"), hi, bird, ball, and occasionally you'll repeat a word when we prompt you. You sometimes say Mama or Dada, but only rarely is it used appropriately to get our attention. Usually if you say it to me it's when I'm leaving the room and you're fussing at me to come back. You often say something back to me that I just said to you, or so it seems. Yesterday I told you you were rotten and I swear you said "wotta" back.
-You're eating more, and you're getting used to chunkier textures in your food and finger foods. You love your puffs and cereal treats and chew them up well...you just can't get enough of them! You're back to loving your bottles again. You still love your juice in a sippy cup too and will drink a lot when you're thirsty!
-You love to go for walks and just kick your legs constantly when you're happy, like a dog wagging it's tail!
-You love the remote control, and if you see it, you have to have it. We used to hide it, but now you've learned to just play with it instead of eating it, and if you do start to put it to your mouth, if we say no, you immediately stop, and sometimes even stop yourself before we say no. Same goes for cell phones.
-You are still the happiest, smiliest girl most of the time! However, you are really learning to fuss when you aren't getting or doing exactly what you want, and boy can you throw yourself into a major hissy fit. The other day you got yourself so choked up you almost threw up and spit up all this mucus. Often it's over getting your diaper changed, which unfortunately, has to happen quite a few times a day. But I'm sure you'll outgrow that soon. And when I say I'm sure, I mean, I hope and pray!!!!
-You have learned to sit up from lying on your tummy so well that it's become a habit you do even in your sleep. You'll wake up through the night stuck sitting up and too sleepyheaded to get yourself lying back down....
-You are getting so brave - crawling everywhere, getting into everything, standing up, letting go of whatever you are standing up on and forgetting that you needed that for balance... You cruise along the furniture and can even stand by yourself for a few seconds.
-You love your electronic and musical toys a lot! Of course, books and stuffed animals definitely rank high up there too!
-You've outgrown so much stuff! We recently packed away your swing, bassinet, your infant car seat (you're in a big girl seat now!) tons of old clothes and shoes, and we're about to put your exersaucer away because you are too big for it too, and seeing it makes you want to play with it.
-You're also, sadly, outgrowing your Bumbo. You still fit in it just fine, and enjoy sitting in it often, but you've been trying to figure out how to get out of it lately. The other day you were sitting there, quietly reading a book, I turned my back, and when I looked back at you, you were crawling around on the floor! So we still use it some, but only supervised and on the floor!
-You love to watch TV when we will let you, and I'll admit, sometimes when you're having one of your little meltdowns, I'll turn it on for a second to calm you down, and it almost always works because you're so fascinated by it. (Sidenote: your kid music CD in the car does the trick when you're fussy in the car too!) Your favorites seem to be Wonder Pets, Olivia, Dora, and anything with lots of music and singing. You love to watch music videos with us and dance and sing. Maybe we should hook a TV up to your changing table so diaper changes won't be such an ordeal.....
-You constantly want Mama and Daddy (or whoever you're around) to be very nearby, but you don't want to be held either.
-You love to watch bigger kids play!
-You are learning to clap your hands. Sometimes you do it, sometimes you don't, but you try! You love to play Pat-a-Cake even more than ever, but you'd prefer to clap our hands for us instead of your own. You also have learned to wave and you do it all the time!! You will just wave and wave to us from across the room and we love it!
-You are so curious - you are constantly checking out what everybody else is doing all the time. Even if we're in a store, you'll lean over as far as you can to see what someone else is up to. If something's blocking something (like pillows in front of the coffee table or hearth) you will move it to see what's behind it.
-You find the tiniest thing, a groove in a toy, or a speck of dirt on the floor, or a teeny string, and you will just pick at it and investigate it. Sometimes you try to put it in your mouth, sometimes you don't. I say you're going to be an engineer like your Daddy because it seems like you're always trying to figure out how something works or how it is put together.
-You have not been sleeping as well. Between crawling around in bed and climbing up the rails, and sitting up so much, you just find lots better to do than sleep in your bed. Sometimes you're fussy about it, and sometimes you're not, and we are working on trying to figure out when and how often we need to go in there after you, and when to just let you wear yourself out 'til you crash!
-You love to go on outings. I've been trying to get you out of the house more often. Other than Galveston, we've recently had lunch with my friends (and McKenna and Finley) at Northpark, played with Meghan, Lizzie, and Kayla, and gone garage sale shopping with Daddy. We also go to Hobby Lobby and Target when we can and have money to spend!
-You bring us so much joy and we love you more and more each day! We love watching you explore and learn, and we're so proud of you!
