Afterwards, we went to the salon to say hi to the girls! Lacey is going to have Mr. Levin (Kemble's valentine) any day now, and I wanted to see her pregnant belly one last time! We ended up spending the entire afternoon just visiting with Lacey, Kaylie and Erica. We had a great time! They all held Kemble for a while, and then she fell asleep after her bottle, and slept through all of our talking and laughter for the rest of the afternoon. We were there during her naptime, and I planned to get her home well before it, but when she started sleeping so good, I decided to enjoy the time with them and let her sleep in my arms and then her carseat.
I love being a stay at home mom with Kemble more than anything. I absolutely cannot imagine life being any other way. I simply could not go back to work. I don't know what I would do if it was financially necessary. I'm lucky because the income I made would not be much more than what a good daycare would cost, so it was a very easy decision for us to make for me to stay home indefinitely. I have always wanted to do that anyway, but now that Kemble is actually here, I know that there wouldn't be an alternative for us! Not only would I not trust anyone else to take care of her properly, I would just hate to miss watching her grow up. I can't fathom the thought of all those adorable smiles she gives going to some daycare employee instead of me!!! Now, I realize that I'm very fortunate and I hope that those of you who do continue to work don't take this in the wrong way, I am just simply stating how much I feel absolutely blessed to be able to have the life I have.
That being said.... I do miss the interaction with, well, adults! I was very lucky to have a group of fabulous girls to work with at the salon, and I really miss chatting with them. While I really don't miss working, I miss so many of my clients too!! So getting to spend a few hours just catching up with them was good for my soul. The salon was pretty empty and it was just like old times on a slow day when we just talk and giggle. Kemble loves the salon too - lots of lights to stare at!!
When we got home, she sat in her highchair in the kitchen while I cooked dinner (chicken and pasta with homemade pesto cream sauce) and I think she really felt like a big girl!
Oh, and we had a milestone today: Kemble wore her "real" shoes (thanks Ande!) for the first time, and they didn't fall off a single time ALL day long!!! So far, she's only been able to wear newborn shoes made for babies under 6 weeks old, which are the TINIEST shoes you will ever see, and even those fell off constantly, and she has worn boots a couple of times that i just velcroed on so tight that they couldn't really fall off. The shoes she wore today were still too big, but they were tennishoes so she wore socks with them and they fit pretty well! She looked like such a big girl. Also, her pants and her hoodie are 3-6 months! She's getting so big! She is so long! I can't wait to go to her 4 month visit to find out how long she's gotten.
Here are pictures from today:
Yesterday was a peaceful and boring day around the house. We spent the day playing in our pajamas. Last night, Stephen went bowling with his brother, and so after Kemble went to bed at 9, it was so peaceful and quiet in the house. I even played games on facebook. BubblePopp. Thanks to Mamie for getting me addicted!
Kemble and Stephen were matching yesterday, although I didn't even know what color shirt he'd put on that morning when I dressed Kemble in purple. She was being shy.
