Time for the Crib!

So, a recap of the end of our week:

Thursday morning Kemble started rolling over. I'd been working with her trying to get her to, she hates being on her tummy so I honestly thought she would've figured out how to get off of it sooner! She's rolled over a couple of times in the past, but they were accidents I think. So anyway Thursday she just started rolling over again and again when I'd put her on her stomach. However, since then, she hasn't been doing it as much, so she must've forgotten her new trick already!! I'm sure she will pick it back up again in no time. We have all tile flooring, so I put her on a little kindermat when she plays on the floor, and I think when we have a big soft rug (on the list to get immediately!) that she can spread out on, it will be much easier and more comfortable for her. She can roll over just fine when I prop her up on her elbows, but if I don't - or if she slides down off of her elbows - she can't figure out how to get the one arm under her in order to roll over it.

Thursday evening we met Shannon for dinner and enjoyed chatting with her about fun baby stuff! I really enjoyed visiting with Shannon and Kemble can't wait to meet her friend Finley this summer!!

Friday, Mamie and Tres came up for the middle of the day. They brought lunch and we just talked and played with Kemble, and then Tres and Kemble got a nap on the couch before they had to head back. Tres filled us in on his newest adventure: going back to school tomorrow. He's really excited and I hope that he does well!

Saturday we spent the day at home playing. I went to Old Navy and bought a ton of stuff for like $3 and less that was on clearance for Kemble. I could've spent a fortune!!

Sunday we went to Waxahachie for lunch at Nonnie's to celebrate Aunt Carlita and Carla's birthdays. They share a birthday and since Carlita moved back to Waxahachie it was so nice to have almost everyone together to celebrate! We watched the Cowboys lose, then headed home last night.

Speaking of last night... it was a big night for us! Miss Kemble slept in her crib for the first time! I haven't really been even considering putting her in her room, I planned to keep her in her bassinet in our room until she was so big she could crawl out of it, but I've been noticing lately that every time Stephen or I rolls over in bed or anything, it makes her stir, and I felt like we were disturbing her sleep. Plus, it's so small that she turns her head to one side or the other and with just a little movement, her little face is up against the side of it, which of course scares me, so I have been thinking for a week or so that it might be getting time to think about it, and then at Target the other day I found a video monitor on the clearance shelf, so I got it and it makes all the difference. So last night we put her down (after a big discussion about whether or not to take the bumpers out of her crib.... we kept them in for now! they were designed for a reason, but then you hear about babies suffocating because they move up against them ) and she must've felt a little out of sorts because she was kind of fussy going to bed (or it could've been the late nap she took driving home from 5-6:30!), she kept losing her paci and screaming to get it back, but she eventually fell asleep and did well. Of course I was up off and on all night every time I'd hear a sound on the monitor so i could look over and watch her toss and turn! Without the video monitor you can bet I would've been dragging the extra bed's mattress in there to sleep on the floor, but it really did ease my mind about it, because I can check on her as often as I want, without even having to go in and wake her up!! She has always taken her daytime naps in her crib, and she does tend to scooch to one side or the other a lot (especially because we have a wedge under her to incline her to prevent her reflux) but it's not like she pushes her face up against the bumper, but she's definitely within an inch or so.... so now I have to decide if the risk is greater for her to not get enough oxygen that way, or to get a little arm or leg stuck in the slats of the crib. Right now she's so skinny she probably couldn't get too stuck anyway! She also LOVES to put her hands on or under the bumper because she puts herself to sleep often by stroking something soft (usually her hair, but in her crib, it's usually the chenille bumpers). You can see in this picture she's got her hand under there. Funny because I always put my hands under my pillow like that. Suggestions??!?!?!

The last thing I have to say today is that I am sad because Kemble's starting to outgrow lots of her cute 0-3 month clothes, and while I'm so excited for her to get into all the cute 6 month stuff she's got, I hate packing such cute stuff away into the attic! Especially all her little footie pajamas... the ones she's wearing in that picture above, as well as these below are two of my absolute favorites, and I think they both may have to be retired this week, because she can barely straighten her legs in them. I'm going to have to get used to this, I know..... because it will continue to happen for many more years!!!

Well I'm off to stare at my video monitor while Kemble finishes her nap! And maybe, just maybe, do some laundry. :)
