Prayer

The past two nights, Kemble has wanted to say her own prayer all by herself. Last night's went pretty much like this "Dear God, please let Santa bring me a pink pillow pet. I love pink pillow pets. Amen" I told her that was very good and I was so proud of her saying her own prayers, but that it was good to make sure we thank God and Jesus for everything they give us and to pray for things other than just what we want.  Saying her own prayers in her own big girl bed... she is seriously becoming so grown up. She's also been enjoying reading books to herself lately, especially during quiet time (which has almost completely replaced naptime these days), and I've discovered that she has almost all of her favorites completely memorized.

Let me interrupt myself here and also say that I was fortunate enough to spend the day with Kemble at Funday School for her Thanksgiving Feast today. They started with a fun hayride, and then they had a feast for lunch with all the kiddos in the gym. The church's preacher came over and said their prayer before they ate. I didn't realize that they prayed before lunch every day, but it was pretty obvious when all of the kids recited the entire prayer with him, including Kemble. It ended with "and all God's children said 'Amen". I knew she had been saying something besides just Amen lately, but I thought it might be an attempt at our usual "In Jesus' name we pray".
 She loved the hayride!

Showing off her Indian headdress, placemat and turkey place card.
The kids decorated everything for their own tables at the feast.

Ready to eat... and eat she did. She ate almost her entire plate full!

Such fantastic table manners she has!

So tonight, she said (and this is not exact because I was wishing I had a tape recorder in there to catch the whole thing! I know I'm leaving something else sweet out at the very end but I cannot remember it for the life of me! I hope it comes to me eventually.)

"Dear God, thank you for my little brother. Thank you for all the water. Thank you for {something mommy couldn't quite understand}. Thank you for Santa to bring me a pink pillow pet for Christmas. And all God's children said Amen"

It was precious and the fact that she thanked Him for her little brother melted my heart, because I've never told her to say that and although we've prayed about the baby before, she's never done it on her own.  My baby girl is SO sweet! (And I guess Santa better really start working on that pink pillow pet!)

After her school we ran to Target and then we picked up Callianne and Emily from school. They came to play with us for a while and they played soccer outside in the cold (Callianne dressed Kemble to go out... didn't she do a great job?!) and came in to some homemade hot chocolate with marshmallows. Callianne showed Kemble a turkey she had done at school that was similar to Kemble's that had things she was thankful for written on it. She had written that she was thankful for her pets, her family, God and Jesus, and Christmas. I thought that was a great list. I'm pretty sure I'm leaving off one of hers too though. Sweet, sweet girls! Love this time of year!
