First of all, last night Stephen and I were playing with Kemble and she took 4 steps, balancing herself after each one, and reached her destination without falling or diving towards it! So I guess those are her official first steps! She's been taking a wobbly step or two here or there, but she usually just sits down, or dives towards me (or the table, or whatever) to grab it before she falls after that. She was so proud of herself last night and, of course, we were too!
Today, we ran out of formula. I knew it was coming, but I guess I was avoiding thinking about it. Anyway, I decided instead of buying a $14 can of formula I'd just go ahead and buy a 99-cent gallon of whole milk and give it a whirl. I figure 2 days can't make a difference. I didn't know if we needed her pediatrician's go-ahead to switch or not, but I decided to just try it and if she didn't like it or showed adverse reactions, then we'd mix with formula or just go back to formula for a few more days. So, she had her first cup and she guzzled it! She wouldn't drink formula from a cup - only a bottle - so I was a little nervous, but she appeared to really like it! She didn't drink the whole cup, in fact she drank less than half, but I don't think she was really thirsty or hungry at the time. Hopefully the rest of the day will go just as smoothly.
She's also been forgoing her morning nap lately. Some days she still wants it, but a lot of days she just doesn't, and will spend half the morning playing in her bed "trying" to fall asleep if I put her down.... so unless she's really acting sleepy, I've just been holding out for a nice long afternoon nap. Unfortunately, Kemble doesn't quite get the "nice, long" memo... she often still only takes a short afternoon nap without having any morning nap. Each day is different, and since she has kept herself on a fairly regular schedule in the past, I'll admit, it's driving me nuts to not know what her naps are going to hold for the day. However, I'll also admit that it's nice to be able to go run errands during the morning when we need to, come home and have lunch, and then she can take her nap, instead of trying to squeeze in errands in the hour or two between waking up from morning nap and lunch or right before her afternoon nap.
My girl is growing up! Stephen and I both said the other day that she seems like she's just had a major growth spurt because she just seems HUGE! She's so tall, and her feet are growing super fast - for so long all her shoes (size 0-1 mostly) were way too big to wear, and now all of a sudden they won't even go on her feet - most of them have never even been worn. She's wearing size 3's now!
I'll save the rest of the updates for her one year blog, which will most likely happen next week AFTER this birthday party is over!! All this for her first birthday party, Stephen's dreading the wedding already! :)
I hope she has a fun 1st birthday celebration! I can't wait to see some of the cute pics! :)
