Baby Hayslip's First Photo

Here are our sonogram pictures!!!!

In the scanned copy of the printout, the top picture is of the baby (some call it a cashew or a gummy bear, but it looks like a seahorse to me!). The bottom one is the baby on the left and the circular yolk sac on the right which helps provide nutrients and blood flow until the placenta is fully functional. The other two pictures are some that Stephen snapped of the screen where you can see the baby pretty clearly! You can definitely see the head, little arms and legs and the "tail" which will be fully formed into the spine in a couple of weeks!!

We got to hear and see the heartbeat, and it's perfect: about 136 beats per minute. It was pretty amazing!

She said the baby is measuring at exactly 7 weeks, and I'm 7 weeks and 2 days, so my due date is very accurate and the baby is developing perfectly on track! The pictures are a little misleading, but the baby is only about 1/2-inch long (about the size of a rasberry), but that's double the size it was only last week!!! Within the next couple of weeks, every part of the baby will be present. Right now, it has a teeny nose, makeshift hands & feet, eyelids, its brain, appendix and pancreas, and many of its veins, glands, tissues, muscles and bones!

I have been feeling pretty nauseous the past couple of days, not really sick, just sort of a lingering nauseousness that makes me crazy because i'm hungry about every 2-3 hours, but nothing ever sounds good, and few things sit well on my tummy -- but i hope it will go away soon!! I'm trying to eat small healthy snacks throughout the day rather than fewer big meals. Other than that, I'm still feeling pretty good!

I just wanted to show you all the first of many baby pictures to come! We're so excited and it all seems so more real now that we've seen our baby with our own eyes!
Love,
Kristen
