I can't believe it's already been five months since Kemble came into the world! Time is flying by! Every day she becomes more and more enjoyable because she's developing such a little personality, habits, and new tricks.
Here are her regular "birthday" pictures with Ellie:
Kemble at 5 Months Old:
-you are eating almost 8 ounces, 4 times a day.
-we still thicken your bottles, in fact, we went back to our original, thicker formula because it helps reduce your spitting up and reflux!
-you are getting really good at holding your bottle and almost always try to... but you definitely still need help!
-you still smile CONSTANTLY! we love it and are so thankful that you are so HAPPY!
-you have learned to pull out your paci and put it back in, so you are always testing it out and you get really frustrated when you can't get it back in straight!
-you MUST be getting that first tooth soon, because if it is possible, you drool twice as much and you have to chew on EVERYTHING!!!! you have developed a bad habit of grabbing my arm/shirt/whatever you can reach anytime you don't have a toy nearby and pulling it to your mouth to chew on. you love to chew on my fingers, and your own!
-you love to stand up! I think you like the whole new view of the world from 2 feet off the ground, because you enjoy it so much!
-you have learned to laugh out loud and we can get you to do it more often, especially when we simply ask "is it funny?!"
-you are a squirmy little thing. you wiggle and writhe through bottles and diaper changes, and always end up at the opposite end of whatever we set you down on!
-you still roll from tummy to back IF you feel like it... but you aren't rolling the other way yet, although sometimes it seems like you're about to, so i'm sure you will master that soon.
-you still love to watch TV, especially American Idol. i think you like the music!
-you have a new favorite: stuffed animals. you love them all, and you love them in your face. they help you fall asleep, you stroke and squeeze them, but you bury your face in them so badly that I have to come in there and take it away from you once you're asleep!
-you no longer get your arms and legs stuck in the crib slats, you've figured out how to get them out, but you like to hold onto the slats, which is funny because your daddy and i both like to hold onto something when we sleep!
-you are learning that you can fuss to get what you want, and i can usually tell when you're just whining or faking it, and when you really need something. that being said... you still hardly ever fuss a bit except when you are hungry.
-you finally talk!! you've always done a tiny tiny bit of cooing and aahing, but all of a sudden in the past week or so you just talk and talk and talk! it gets more and more every day, and I love it. You will play and just talk and squeal and coo and laugh just to hear yourself! when we talk to you, you move your mouth like you're practicing talking back.
-you really want to be a big girl. you can sit up as long as we just barely hold onto you. you'll be sitting alone in no time!
-you are sucking your thumb, except you really chew on it more than suck it. you curve your index finger up over your nose often.
-you are wearing mostly 6-month clothes, and 9-month pajamas...however some of your 3-month stuff still fits, and some of your 12-month stuff fits too!
-you are really missing eating baby food since your allergic reaction. your mean mommy is going to make you wait just a little bit longer to hopefully avoid any further allergies. you watch us eat and just smile and smile. you're going to be SO excited to start them again soon!
-you still loooove your baths and have learned to splash! you love your squirt toys and laugh when we spray you with them.
-you love your exersaucer and on your 5-month birthday you began to reach for your toys on it and your highchair and spin them appropriately.
-you still love to be read to and you love to look at all the pictures. this month your favorites have been Baby Bear Baby Bear What Do You See and Little Hoot.
-this isn't new, but I've forgotten to mention it before: you LOVE to watch me do my makeup and hair. you are completely mesmerized by it. i'll let you try some on soon :)
-you still hate being on your tummy about 98% of the time.
-due to that, and you constantly looking back and forth anytime you are laying down, you have developed a bald spot on the back of your head. i hoped that you wouldn't succumb to that popular baby trend, but you have. i hope it grows back soon!
-speaking of your hair.... i don't think it's falling out, but you don't have much more coming in. you were born with SO much, but as your head grows, I think it's spreading out on your head so it looks thinner. grow, hair, grow!!!!
-i don't know how much you've grown, but we think it is a lot, because your clothes are getting a little snug and you seem to be getting little chubby rolls on your arms, legs and tummy!! see the pictures above!?
-you finally grew completely out of your newborn socks.
-you JUST graduated from size 1 to size 2 diapers.
-we've noticed lately that you love your room. every time we take you into your room you look around and smile, especially at the chandelier, the pictures hanging above your changing table, and your snail mobile.
-you also LOVE your bed. it's kind of a problem, actually, because you get so excited every time we put you in bed, that you wake up and kick and squeal and laugh at your snails, then it takes you forever to drift back off again!
-you stare at the camera for the video monitor, and i know it's just because it has a little green light on it, but when we're watching you from the other room, it's like your intentionally looking at us!
-once you are asleep (which sometimes seems to take forever), you sleep really well! you are now going to bed around 8 pm, and sleeping until 8 am. you are almost like clockwork: bottles every 4 hours (except the last one, which is after 3), sleep for 11 hours or until it's been 12 hours since your last bottle the night before. we know we're lucky :)
-your mommy and daddy fall more and more in love with you every day. we are enjoying watching you grow so very much!
